The George & Dragon

Sutton Courtenay

The George & Dragon is an unspoilt C16th coaching inn in the pretty Oxfordshire village of Sutton Courtenay.

Situated next to the church and village green and opposite Norman Hall, The George & Dragon is a favourite among walkers, boaters, locals, tourists, workers, families…..and their dogs.

The exceptional, well-priced, freshly cooked food is several leagues above standard pub fare and there is a good range of Cask Marque ales, including regular guest beers. Large parties and special events can be catered for.

There is a log-burning stove to keep Winter at bay and a courtyard garden to welcome the Summer.

The pub is an ideal lunch venue choice if you’re travelling from Milton Park, Harwell, Didcot, Abingdon, Culham or further afield.

Whether you’re visiting The George & Dragon from work, stopping off for one of the best Sunday lunches you’ll find anywhere or just popping in for a drink, there's plenty to see and do in Sutton Courtenay.

Take a stroll along a particularly beautiful stretch of the Thames, which is all of 200 yards away. Explore one of the many public footpaths and bridleways. Look around the churchyard and discover the final resting paces of Herbert Asquith, David Astor and Eric Blair – better known as George Orwell.

Above all, enjoy your time with us at The George & Dragon. We’d very much like to see you again.
